The practice of giving thanks is woven into the fabric of biblical faith. The psalms are filled with thanksgiving, Paul and his missionary friends give thanks at many points in their journey, Hannah gives thanks when God answers her desperate prayer and one of the men healed of leprosy returns to give thanks after he is healed. The list of grateful characters is endless.
This is Thanksgiving week. It is a time to pause and give thanks for all that God has done for us. There are two ways to do this, we can approach Thanksgiving Day as a matter of routine, tick the box at the end of the day, and wait to do it all over again in 2024, or we can approach Thanksgiving Day more consciously than ever before. We truly are blessed!
Thank you God for the sun, the moon, the stars, the sky, the earth with its rich vegetation, the deep mysterious forests, the majestic blue ocean, the lakes and rivers teeming with sea-life, the birds of the air, and the vast array of animals of every size and color. Who are we that you care for us?
Thanksgiving is a special time of the year. It is a time to get together with family and friends and give thanks for the bounty that God has provided. Many homes will have an enviable all you can eat buffet of turkey, ham, sweet potatoes, green bean casserole, stuffing smothered in gravy, cranberry sauce, carrots and all the sides you can imagine.
