Jesus-Lord and Christ

Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Acts 2:38

In a world that is running short on truth, here is an indisputable truth, Jesus is Lord and Christ.  This is the greatest confession we could ever make.  Jesus has dominion and supremacy over any other god.  He is Lord of all.  He is not just one of the variety of ways to get to heaven as some false teachers would have us believe, Jesus is the only way, because he is the risen Lord and God has made him Lord and Christ.

When we declare, “Jesus is Lord,” we do so through the power of the Holy Spirit.  These are not just words, but a firm belief of these unshakeable truths:  that Jesus is the promised Messiah of the Old Testament; that his resurrection is a proven fact as the early witnesses have attested; that his redemptive work on the cross is valid; and that he invites us to join him in this resurrection life.

In the greatest sermon Peter ever preached, he says, “Repent and be baptized everyone of you in the name of Jesus Christ so your sins may be forgiven and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”  The crucifixion was no accident.  It was God’s predetermined plan, to reconcile you to himself.  Those who listened to Peter’s sermon were struck in their conscience and about three thousand came to Christ that day.  How about you, will you repent today?  Will you make Jesus your Lord and Christ?  Time is running out.  Save yourself from this corrupt generation.  Come out and be separate.  Your Lord and Christ is waiting.  This is the most truthful news you will hear today. Amen.
