A Place of Rest

And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:7

Have you ever looked at the world with all its mind-spinning headlines and wondered where it’s all going to end?  Do you look at the church and wonder if Christians are going to make it?  Today, look no further than Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.  He alone is your peace in the good times and the bad times.

In the hymn titled “There is a place of quiet rest,” Cleland Boyd McAfee writes:

There is a place of quiet rest, near to the heart of God;

A place where sin cannot molest, near to the heart of God.

O Jesus, blest redeemer, sent from the heart of God,

Hold us, who wait before Thee, near to the heart of God.

God wants us to dwell in him, and to be near his heart.  Only then will we know the “peace of God, which transcends all understanding.  God himself will guard our minds and our hearts so that we do not have to worry about anything.  Rather than worrying, about the turbulence that surrounds our lives, God’s word instructs us to pray and petition with thanksgiving, presenting every request to God.

 May you know his peace in each and every circumstance that you encounter today.

Dear God, I surrender every worry and anxiety to you.  You alone are my peace.  Thank you for Jesus Christ and for the salvation that is mine through him.  I know that through him, I am connected to you.  Hold me to heart, as I wait for you.  Amen!
