Dear Friends,
I will be traveling to Kenya on January 24th to conduct interviews for the Class of 2018. A local ministry associate (Rahab) from Nairobi and I, will be handling between 200-250 interviews to select candidates suitable for the Esther’s Hope Ministries Scholarship assistance outreach. All interviewees will go through a triple-phase interview process: reading, writing and public speaking. We will also be reviewing student records to find students with the greatest financial need. And lastly, we will administer a pre-survey to the selected candidates, so that we can benchmark their improvement as they go through the program.
We will also handle the unenviable task of telling more than 100-150 students that they were not selected for this assistance. Please pray regularly for us.
Pray for:
1. God’s grace and glory to be experienced by all with whom we will come in contact
2. God’s overall protection from the devil and his schemes
3. Safety in the air and in our travels on dangerous Kenyan roads
4. Good health during our stay
5. Wisdom to discern the most deserving candidates
6. Compassion and fortitude in handling those who will not qualify for this program
Our hearts are filled with deep gratitude and joy and as we plant seeds of faith in Jesus Christ and hope in the lives of underprivileged young women in Africa. May his name be forever glorified!
"So, neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow. The one who plants and the one who waters have one purpose, and they will each be rewarded according to their own labor. For we are co-workers in God’s service; you are God’s field, God’s building (I Corinthians 3:7-9)."
In His Vineyard,
Joan
