Remember the wonders he has done, his miracles, and the judgments he pronounced…
Psalm 105:5
Throughout the Bible, God’s people are instructed to stop and recall what God did for them. Psalm 105 is one such instance. It is a song of remembrance of God’s goodness to his people. The Psalmist captures how God directed, provided for and protected the Israelites throughout their history. And as believers in the 21st Century, we can look back and see how God’s plan has been unfolding and is still unfolding with his overflowing goodness to his people.
Today, we stop and remember with deep gratitude the sacrifices of those who served and died in our nation’s wars. We stop to give God thanks for their dedication and sacrifice. We stop, hopefully, to recommit ourselves to doing our part in serving God, family and others, so that the sacrifices of the fallen will not have been in vain.
Today we stop to encourage and remind ourselves that even when life seems tough and the things that are happening around us do not make sense, God is still working out his divine plan, so that generations to come will also stop and remember, and give thanks, and recommit to doing their best to live for him, and to continue building on that history of God’s incredible goodness to his people in America.
Have a meaningful and reflective Memorial Day!
