Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Philippians 2: 9-11
Once upon a time, there was no technology and human beings were not as sophisticated as they are today. No one knew of social media, taglines, computer algorithms. Basically, there was no internet and yet the early church thrived. What was their secret? How did the initial 12 disciples turn this world upside down for Christ? How did they make it to the farthest ends of the earth? Those disciples believed in the powerful name of Jesus Christ. As they waited in that upper room in the book of Acts (Acts 1:4), they recognized that nothing could be done, except by his Holy Spirit. Those early disciples understood it was not by might nor by power, not even by talent or skill, the sacred mission they had received could only be accomplished through the incredible power of Jesus’ name.
How far we have come. It seems that Christianity today relies first and foremost on every system, method and gadget that the world has to offer. We have forgotten that name! We mention it often, but we have forgotten the POWER. We have forgotten that it is the name that is above every other name. The name before which every knee must bow and every tongue confess, that, “Jesus is Lord.” It is the name that breaks every chain and sets every captive free; the name that causes demons to tremble and flee.
Are you desperate for a miracle today? Do you desire victory in your situation? Are you going through the fire right now? Then call upon that name. Call upon Jesus in the morning, noon or night. Whisper his name is the day and, in the night, and believe for something greater in your situation. Pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests, and let Jesus deliver the victory. It is time to go back to the basics.
Heavenly Father, thank you for reminding me of the power in your name. I surrender all of my feeble attempts to bring about victory in my situation. Take the reins Jesus. I bow down and worship your Holy and Precious name. Amen!
