Constant and True

God is not human that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind.  Does he speak and then not act?  Does he promise and not fulfill?

Numbers 23:19

If you live long enough you will discover that human beings will lie, they will renege on promises, and they will let you down, but God will never lie.  Therefore, if we expect to receive his overwhelming, beyond-all-measure goodness, we must learn to walk by faith.  We must daily and continually, despite our fear, summon the strength to leap into the hand of a God who is constant and true; a God who will never fail us.

God has already proven his commitment toward us by sending his one and only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to save us from our sins.  What is it that can be more difficult than this?  If you are facing a situation that seems impossible, think on this, “God is not human that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind.  Does he speak and then not act?  Does he promise and not fulfill? (Numbers 23:19).”

As you begin this new week, and as you encounter all manner of situations, remind yourself that he is the God who makes the blind to see, who sets the prisoner free, who rescues his people from the fiery furnace and from the lion’s den, and his promises to you are still yea and amen!

Heavenly Father, thank you for your faithfulness towards me.  Teach me to trust in your unchanging love.  Even when I cannot see you or feel you, I know that you are there for me.  Give me the strength to reflect your constant love to those around me.  Amen.
