Wait for It

For a thousand years in your sight are but as yesterday when it is past, or as a watch in the night.

Psalm 90:4

Many of us living in the US will spring forward by adjusting our clocks one hour ahead, this week.  This practice can often make some people feel as though they have power over time, and this can lead into a pattern of thinking we can control the events of our lives and change the time when important things should happen.  The truth is, we can try but we will not succeed.  For as the Psalmist says, concerning God, “For a thousand years in your sight are but as yesterday when it is past, or as a watch in the night (Psalm 90:4).”

There is only one King over time, God himself.  He is timeless and is the One who ordains times and places when anything and everything should take place.  God is the beginning of time and the ending of time.  He is neither constrained, nor hampered by human manipulations of time.  He is the Master of all time: birth time, death time, laughter and crying time, and whatever time.  The writer of the Book of Ecclesiastes says, “He has made everything beautiful in its time.  He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end (Ecclesiastes 3:11).  God alone is Sovereign over time.

Concerning the key issues of your life, surrender your time constraints to God.  Release yourself from your deadlines, and free yourself from the tyranny of constant anxiety and disappointment.  Whatever your situation, he has already made it beautiful.  Therefore, ask him to plant that truth in your heart.  Ask him to give you the kind of eyes that can see the way he does.  Thank him for what he has already ordained in the heavens above.  Are you praying for marriage; a baby, a new business start-up, reconciliation or something else?    Wait for it, your answer is on its way, “For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay (Habbakuk 2:3)”.

Dear Father in Heaven, I long for a closer walk with you, for only in your presence will I find fulfillment.   I believe that you have ordained every event and every blessing intended for me in the heavens.  I surrender all anxiety and rest in your promise.  I know you will make everything beautiful in your time.  Amen.
