How Majestic is Your Name

O LORD, our Lord. how majestic is your name in all the earth!

Psalm 8: 1a

Does the thought of God the Father overwhelm you with a deep sense of awe and wonder?  Does the idea that he cares for you and loves you completely leave you overwhelmed with gratitude.  Does the realization that he knows every aspect of your life, past, present and future and that he has knit every event brilliantly for your good, flood your heart with humility?

I must admit that for me, there is always a deep sense of awe for the God of the universe. However, every so often, I am completely overwhelmed and rendered speechless by how much he really cares for me.  I am reminded by his Spirit, who now lives in the hearts of all who believe in him, that no matter what state I am in, he alone is the complete author and finisher of my life and my faith (Heb 12:2).

In the words of the Psalmist, I find myself boldly proclaiming the greatness of his Majesty today.  There is no other name like his in heaven or on this earth. May this be the prayer of your heart too as you reflect on his workings in your own life!

Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!  You have set your glory in the heavens.

Through the praise of children and infants you have established a stronghold against your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger. When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them?

You have made them a little lower than the angels and crowned them with glory and honor.  You made them rulers over the works of your hands; you put everything under their feet: all flocks and herds, and the animals of the wild, the birds in the sky, and the fish in the sea, all that swim the paths of the seas.

Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! (Psalm 8)

Holy, holy, holy LORD, heaven and earth are filled with your glory.  There is no one like you.  I bow down and worship you, Almighty God, thanking you for what you have done and for what you will do.  Fill my heart again LORD, take your place and instruct me as I continue to follow you.  May I decrease as you increase in me.  AMEN!
